Zak Hanif Bridges Gap Between Students and the Professional World of Civil Engineering as Outreach Chair of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) Student Chapter at Stony Brook
The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) SBU Student Chapter provides students majoring in civil engineering countless opportunities to prepare students to navigate the professional world.
Zak Hanif, a Civil Engineering student with a minor in Studio Art, has been serving as the Outreach Chair of the ASCE SBU Student Chapter. As the Outreach Chair, he is responsible for maintaining company relations, organizing professional development events, and bringing in donors to the organization. In addition to this, Zak is a part of the ASCE Land Surveying Team, where he and his teammates competed in the 2024 ASCE Metropolitan Student Symposium and achieved first place. Zak manages all these key responsibilities while balancing his musical side as a violinist of the University Orchestra.
