About Us

In February, Stony Brook University will honor the culture and historical contributions of the Pan-African community, through educational and cultural activities reflecting the theme: African Americans and the Arts. 

Throughout February, University offices, departments, and student clubs and organizations will host a variety of activities to celebrate and honor African American/ Black heritage. The Black History Month tradition is designed to increase awareness about the historical legacy of the African American/Black experience in the struggle for equality, inclusion, social change, and social justice.
