AGEP-T FRAME Postdoctoral Fellowship

Eligibility:

AGEP-T FRAME Fellows must be experienced postdoctoral professionals seeking experience at Stony Brook University (SBU) or Brookhaven National Laboratory (BNL) to enrich their training. In addition, they must meet the qualifications listed below.

• Committed to a research career in their respective STEM field
• Committed to promoting diversity in the academy as researchers, teachers and mentors
• Committed to pursuing a career in the professoriate
• US Citizen

 

Opportunities for Postdoctoral Fellows in the AGEP-T FRAME Program:

Postdoctoral fellows in the FRAME program will receive targeted support and intensive training to become highly productive and independent researchers who can compete for faculty positions at top notch research institutions such as BNL or Brookhaven Science Associates (BSA) member institutions. FRAME Fellows are invited to participate in all programming (social, professional and academic) of the AGEP-T Program and additional CIE programming.  

 

AGEP-T FRAME Postdoctoral Fellows at SBU and BNL will benefit from the following:

• Fellowship supplements for research programs at SBU and BNL
• Comprehensive, formal training in key areas of professional and career development
• Quality mentoring and career guidance through the development and implementation of an Individual Development Plan
• Participation in a cohesive and inclusive community through the use of social media and other emerging technology

Application Process:

STEP 1: Identify potential faculty mentors and research projects at SBU and/or BNL. You may utilize one or both options to select your potential mentors.

• Option 1– Select from current available research projects 
• Option 2– Select from current SBU STEM faculty or BNL Departments*

 *Selected mentors and/or departments will be contacted by FRAME staff to match candidates with their research interests.

 

STEP 2: Submit an online application to the open requisition on the Jobs @ Stony Brook University Website. The following supporting documents must also be submitted as attachments to the online application

1. A document that identifies potential research faculty mentors from Stony Brook University
2. CV (including publications, conference participation and teaching experience) and cover letter
3. Personal Statement (2-4 pages) that highlights your candidacy for the AGEP-T FRAME Program at Stony Brook University or Brookhaven National Laboratory. The statement should include the following components:
   • Current research interests (clearly stated interests are crucial in determining an appropriate faculty match);
   • Relevant details about your academic background, past research accomplishments and any related job experiences;
   • Your future career goals beyond this postdoctoral training experience and how this program will help you;
   • How you will contribute to the core mission of this project, which is to optimize the development of a diverse talent pool of U.S. citizens that are underrepresented (African Americans, Hispanic Americans, American Indians, Alaska Natives, Native Hawaiians and other Pacific Islanders) in STEM fields.

 

STEP 3: Submit 3 Letters of Recommendation:  one of these letters must be from your PhD advisor/PI.  These may be emailed by their authors directly to agep_frame@stonybrook.edu.  Applicant's name should be in the subject heading.
