Introduction to Mindfulness and Meditation Part I

Participants will examine the neuroscience of mindful meditation and learn how to apply brain science to their classrooms and work with students.   With a deeper understanding of neuroscience we cultivate a new perspective of our, and our students,’ behavior and how to foster meaning learning.

This course examines the 12-Dispositions of mindful living, their essential role in cultivating mental health, social well-being, and how we can integrate these dispositions into the classroom to promote Social-Emotional-Learning.

Participants delve into the theories and brain science of sensory integration, dynamic movement with breath, and brain gym; exploring mindful movement strategies and gaining an in-depth understanding of the essential role of movement in fostering significant and enhanced learning.

Participants will leave this course with a more holistic perspective of mindfulness, meditation, and the link of mindfulness practices to both enhanced learning and social-emotional growth. Resources, recorded meditations, opportunities for practice and reflection, brain-based Mindfulness and SEL-lesson plans to deliver to students, in short, easily integrated intervals, are provided throughout this course.  Educators complete this course confident to deliver the benefits of mindfulness practices, meditation, and social-emotional-learning practices to their students and peers.
