Welcome to the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department offers:
To undergraduate students:
- Bachelor of Engineering degree (B.E.) in Electrical Engineering.
- Bachelor of Engineering degree (B.E.) in Computer Engineering.
- Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering (Online Program).
All three of our undergraduate programs are accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Online program is designed to serve the need of the working professional.
To graduate students:
- M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical or Computer Engineering.
- M.S. degree in Engineering Artificial Intelligence (starting Fall 2024).
Our department has 30 full-time faculty members with research and educational interests covering wide range of topics. Many of our undergraduate courses have laboratory components where the students are exposed to experiential learning. Our diverse community of faculty and students conduct cutting edge research in a number of areas including power system engineering, artificial intelligence, wireless and mobile networks, cloud and mobile computing, computer networks, quantum information science and technology, photonic devices and systems, semiconductor devices, design of high-performance systems, nanoscale integrated circuit design, signal processing, computer vision, hardware for signal processing, analog and digital VLSI circuits and systems, cyber-physical and embedded systems, sensing systems, and smart energy systems. The work of the faculty and the students is regularly published in most prestigious international journals and conference proceedings.
The department is privileged to have the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues from Stony Brook’s School of Medicine, Brookhaven National Laboratory, the New York State Center for Advanced Sensor Technology (with roots in the department), and the Center of Excellence in Wireless and Information Technology. We are proud that several of our professors are recipients of the prestigious NSF Career Award. We also have many faculty members who have received prominent national and international awards and who are editors of respected international journals in their fields of expertise.
