ECE Professors Receive Awards from IEEE

ECE Professors Kenneth Short, Emre Salman, and Peter Milder were honored with awards at the IEEE Long Island Section Awards Banquet, held March 28, 2019 in Woodbury, NY. The Long Island section of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) holds this annual event to honor the accomplishments of engineers within the region.
Professor Kenneth Short was honored with the IEEE Long Island Section Lifetime Achievement Award. The award cites Professor Short's "lasting excellence and unparalleled dedication to electrical engineering education."
Professor Emre Salman received the IEEE Region 1 Award for Technological Innovation. This prestigious award is presented by IEEE Region 1, which represents the northeastern United States. Prof. Salman's award recognizes his "outstanding contributions to developing energy-efficient and secure 3D integrated circuits."
Professor Peter Milder received the IEEE Long Island Section Outstanding Young Engineer Award. The award cites Professor Milder's work on "acceleration of machine learning using field-programmable gate arrays and in domain-specific tools to automate the construction of hardware."
