Global Summer Institute Launching in 2017

To meet the increasing demand for meaningful academic and cultural overseas experiences of our international partners, the Office of Global Affairs is excited to launch our new Global Summer Institute (GSI) in 2017.

Under the umbrella of GSI, we are rebranding existing summer programs for international students and adding new certificate courses to create a cohesive study abroad experience that will provide career-enhancing skills to overseas students and professionals.  GSI will offer three programs: a three-week certificate program, a full-time summer session program with tracks for varying language skills, and a customizable program.

The newly developed GSI Certificate Program will consist of a three-week certificate course in a variety of disciplines designed to enhance career prospects.  In addition to receiving instruction from top faculty, students will be offered language tutoring and participate in cultural outings throughout Long Island and New York City. 

The Summer Session tracks include all of Stony Brook’s current summer exchange programs.  During this six-week program, students can choose from a mix of academic credits and language courses based on English language ability.  GSI will offer scholarships in order to attract qualified international students.

Finally, the customizable program will be available to Stony Brook partners looking to create unique educational experiences.  Programs will be developed upon request, and tailored to the individual needs of our partner institutions.
