Mitochondrial dysfunction and genotoxicity provoked by exposure of human lung cells to lunar dust simulants

Hi! My legal name is Hsing-Ming Chang, but you can just call me Jamie Chang. I grew up in Taiwan and obtained my B.S. degree on June of 2018 in Medical Biotechnology and Laboratory Sciences at Chang Gung University. My undergraduate project in Dr. Hsiu-Chuan Yen’s lab, funded by the Ministry of Science of Technology (Taiwan, Republic of China), focused on how Complex III inhibitor, Antimycin A, induces mitochondrial dysfunction. This precious experience provoked my interest in mitochondrial and toxicological research. After graduating, I was admitted to the Molecular and Cellular Pharmacology M.S. Program here at Stony Brook University and given the opportunity to transition into to the Doctorate Program in Dr. Bruce Demple’s lab. I am currently working on a NASA-funded project for assessing the toxicity and potential threats of Lunar Soil Simulant to astronauts’ health. To me, getting in touch with all kinds of people is enjoyable and exciting, so I often go traveling, cooking, playing dogs, watching movies, and karaokeing with my friends during my free time.
