An Announcement from the Director for Title IX and Risk Management at Stony Brook University
STONY BROOK, N.Y., February 9, 2015
Dear members of the Campus Community,
As we embark on a new year and a new semester, I wanted to inform you of two important newly created resources.
As the University’s Title IX Coordinator, part of my role is to oversee Title IX complaints and ensure that the University takes appropriate measures to prevent, investigate, and remedy all Title IX related incidents. In an institution as large as Stony Brook University (including Stony Brook Medicine and Long Island State Veterans Home), I understand that people may feel more comfortable speaking with someone within their department or area for guidance, rather than an unfamiliar face. That is why I am proud to announce that I have designated twenty five members of our faculty and staff to serve as Deputy Title IX Coordinators.
Deputy Title IX Coordinators serve as the institution’s point of contact for those seeking information or wanting to report a sexual harassment/sexual misconduct/sexual violence incident. The deputies are not tasked with investigating any misconduct, rather they are designated resources to individuals seeking information. Deputy Title IX Coordinators are responsible for communicating all Title IX complaints to me, the Title IX Coordinator.

Second, I am proud to announce SBU’s enhanced Title IX website. The website provides information on Title IX, how to file a complaint and resources available. I invite you to visit the website at www.stonybrook.edu/titleix
