COVID Planning Update
December 23, 2021
To Our Campus Community,
As this holiday season unfolds, many members of our campus community are concerned
about the ongoing COVID pandemic, the rapid emergence of the Omicron variant, and
the impact of this situation on the upcoming spring semester at Stony Brook University.
Please know that we continue to closely monitor the public health landscape and track
relevant metrics with regard to COVID in our community. We anticipate proceeding
with our winter session and spring semester as planned and will continue to employ
the public health practices that have served Stony Brook University well to this point:
masks will be required indoors on our campus, along with regular testing. In addition,
we encourage everyone to be tested before returning to campus, and recommend booster
shots for those who are fully vaccinated and meet the criteria. For more details on
our COVID guidelines, visit: Human Resource Services Shares COVID Steps to Take for Winter Break | | SBU News
Our masking, testing, and vaccination requirements have proven highly successful,
resulting in very low infection rates on our campus. We will use what we have learned
in managing this pandemic over the past two years, as well as new data and insights
as they become available, to help ensure a safe environment for all students, faculty,
staff, and visitors in the semester to come.
Thank you for doing your part to protect the health of our community. We hope that
you enjoy the holidays. We will be in touch again with additional details as the new
semester approaches.
Best regards,
Maurie McInnis
President
