26 Monday Memorial Day (classes not in session)
27 Tuesday Summer Term I Session Code C begins (05/27 - 7/05)
June
17 Wednesday Undergraduate students may begin applying to graduate for December 2014 and Winter 2015 graduation through SOLAR. The deadline date to apply through SOLAR is 09/09/2014. See your department and/or program to apply after 09/09/2014.
23 Monday Classes begin for new students in the School of Nursing's 12 month Accelerated Bachelor of Science program. Classes begin for 3rd year students in the School of Medicine.
30 Monday Classes begin in the School of Health Technology and Management for new students in Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant and Respiratory Care. Classes begin for 4th year students in the School of Medicine.
30 Monday Summer Term II Session Code 9 (6/30 - 8/1), Session Code M (6/30 - 8/15) and Session Code MM (6/23 - 8/16) begin.
July
4 Friday Independence Day (classes not in session)
7 Monday Summer Term II Session Code D begins (7/7 - 8/16).
30 Wednesday Undergraduate students may apply for Fall (December) and Winter (January) graduation. Candidates must apply on-line via the SOLAR system. Last day to apply is Tuesday, September 9, 2014.

FALL 2014-

TUITION & FEE LIABILITY RESULTING FROM STUDENT WITHDRAWALS & CANCELLATIONS

Students who officially withdraw from the University or reduce the number of credits for which they are registered may be entitled to a proportionate refund of tuition paid or proportionate adjustment of tuition charges. The first day of classes as scheduled by the campus shall be deemed to be the first day that classes are offered, as scheduled by the academic calendar.

Fall 2014 Calendar

AUGUST
16 Thursday Graduate, Medicine and Dental Medicine students, may apply for Fall (December) and Winter (January) graduation. Candidates must apply on-line via the SOLAR system. The deadline for your name to appear in the commencement publication is Monday, October 1, 2014. Last day to apply is Friday, October 17, 2014
18 Monday Classes begin in the School of Medicine for 1st and 2nd year students. Classes begin in Dental Medicine for 2nd, 3rd and 4th year students; and 1st year students attend orientation.
25 Monday Classes begin in the Basic Sciences, Graduate Program in Public Health, the Schools of Nursing; Social Welfare; Health Technology and Management; 1st year students in the School of Dental Medicine; and West Campus.
25 Monday Late Registration begins, $50 fee assessed to all students who are not enrolled in at least one course before August 25th.
SEPTEMBER
TBD TBD Last day for all students to drop a course or withdraw from the university without tuition liability. Contact your HSC school.
1 Monday Labor Day (classes not in session). Offices Closed.
2 Tuesday Classes not in session except for students in the School of Dental Medicine and Medicine, contact your school for additional information. Offices open.
9 Tuesday For all students, last day to drop a course without a "W" being recorded. Last day for undergraduates to add a course and process a swap.
9 Tuesday Last day for undergraduate students to apply for Fall (December) and Winter (January) graduation via SOLAR system.
9 Tuesday Undergraduate students: Last day to apply for Fall 2014 (December) graduation via the SOLAR system. 16 Tuesday

Last day for graduate students to add or withdraw from a course. All registration transactions must be handled through your HSC school.
OCTOBER
17 Friday Students in Graduate, Medicine and Dental Medicine programs, last day to file for Fall 2014 (December) and Winter 2015 (January) graduation. Candidates must apply on-line via the Solar System. After 10/17/2014 you must complete the "Apply For Graduation Form" available onhttp://www.stonybrook.edu/hscstudents/docs/ApplyGradForm.pdfIf you have any questions, contact your HSC department.
NOVEMBER
3 Monday Last day for removal of Incomplete (I) grades from 2014 Spring and Summer term codes.
3 Monday

Tentative date for Winter and Spring 2015 registration for graduate and undergraduate students (not including non-matrics). Check the Solar System for your enrollment appointment.
7 Friday Undergraduate students may apply for 2015 Spring (May or June) or Summer (July or August) graduation. Candidates must apply via SOLAR system. Last day to apply is Friday, February 6, 2015
25 Wednesday Students in the School of Dental Medicine and Medicine classes in session. Contact your school for additional information.
26- 30 Wednesday-Sunday Thanksgiving recess (classes not in session). Classes resume Monday, December 1, 2014.
DECEMBER
1 Monday

For Graduate, Medicine, Dental Medicine and Stony Brook Non Credit Career students, may apply for Spring (May or June) and Summer (July or August) 2015 graduation via the SOLAR system. Deadline date for Spring is Monday, March 2, 2015. The deadline date for Summer is Saturday, August 15, 2015.
5 Friday

Undergraduate and Graduate students, last day to withdraw or take a leave of absence from the university. Withdrawing or a leave of absence from the University must be processed by the student's HSC school.
13 Saturday School of Social Welfare: Winter recess begins at the close of classes.
17 Wednesday School of Medicine: Winter recess begins at 12:00pm. Graduate Program in Public Health: Winter recess begins at 2:00 PM; School of Dental Medicine and School of Nursing: Winter recess begins at 5:00pm. Programs in the Basic Sciences and School of Health Technology and Management: Winter recess begins at the close of classes.
17 Wednesday Fall Term ends.
18 Thursday Commencement

Spring 2015

Spring 2015 Calendar

JANUARY
2 Friday Classes begin for 4th year students in the School of Medicine.
5 Monday Classes begin for programs in the Basic Science; 2nd and 3rd year students in the School of Medicine and some programs in Health Technology Management ($50 late registration fee assessed); Dental Medicine classes resume. For session code add/drop dates see Table of Session Dates - Spring 2015, below.
19 Monday

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day (classes not in session).
26 Monday Classes begin in the Graduate Program in Public Health; Schools of Nursing; Social Welfare; Health Technology and Management and west campus. ($50 late registration fee assessed to all students who are not enrolled in at least one course before January 26, 2015.
31 Saturday First Day of Saturday Classes. This includes East (HSC), West and Manhattan campuses and SPD online.
FEBRUARY
1 Sunday Last day for undergraduate and graduate students to drop a course or withdraw from the University without incurring tuition liability. Withdrawing from the University must be processed through your HSC program.
2 Monday Dental Medicine Spring 2015 classes, late registration, and add/drop begins ($50 late registration fee assessed).
10 Tuesday

Last day for undergraduate students to add a course; last day for graduate and undergraduates to drop a course without a withdrawal (W) being recorded. Last day for students to process a Swap.
10 Tuesday

Undergraduate students: Last day for Spring (May or June) or Summer (July or August) degree candidates to apply for graduation. Undergraduates must apply on-line via Solar (Click on the 'Apply for Graduation' Link on your homepage.) Undergraduate students who have completed (posted to their records) at least 108 credits (or greater) with a declared major will be eligible to apply. After 2/10/2015, you must complete the 'Apply for Graduation' form available onhttp://www.stonybrook.edu/hscstudents/docs/ApplyGradForm.pdf. If you have any questions, contact your HSC department.
17 Tuesday Last day for graduate students to add or withdraw from a course (W will be recorded). Tuition liability will apply.
MARCH
2 Monday Graduate, Medicine, Dental Medicine and Stony Brook Non Credit career programs: Last day May/June (Spring) or July/August (Summer) 2015 degree and certificate candidates to file degree application in order to be included in the University Commencement publication. Candidates for graduation must apply on-line via SOLAR: Click on Student Records and Registration, Degree Progress/Graduation, Apply for Graduation. After 3/2/2015 you must complete the "Apply for Graduation" form available onhttp://www.stonybrook.edu/hscstudents/docs/ApplyGradForm.pdf.
9 Monday Classes begin for 1st year students in the School of Medicine.
10 Tuesday Last day for removal of Incomplete (I) grades from the Fall 2014 and Winter 2015 term and session codes.
16-22 Monday-Sunday

Spring Recess (classes not in session). Classes resume Monday March 23, 2015.
APRIL
6 Monday Tentative date for Summer and Fall 2015 registration for graduate and undergraduate students (not including non-matrics). Check the Solar System for your enrollment appointment. Your enrollment appointment for summer may be different from your fall enrollment appointment.
MAY
8 Friday
