Zachary Lee

Chief Lee began his career in law enforcement in 2009 as a police officer here at Stony Brook University and then transferred to the Farmingdale State College Police Department in 2014 where he was promoted to Lieutenant. While at Farmingdale, Chief Lee led the college's Emergency Management program until 2021 when he transferred back to Stony Brook as the Lieutenant in charge of the Detective Division. Later that year, he was promoted to Inspector of Investigations and Professional Standards where he oversaw all aspects of criminal investigations and the Internal Affairs functions of the police department. In November 2022, he was assigned as the Inspector of Patrol, a position that he held until this promotion. Chief Lee is a Firearms Instructor, a DCJS General Topics Instructor and is the recipient of a meritorious service award and a professional service award. He holds both a Bachelor of Science in Police Studies and a Master of Science in Emergency Management from the John Jay College of Criminal Justice.
