Bio
Andrea Tyree is a social demographer with wide-ranging interests in social change, social stratification, family, and political sociology-1. She has researched international migration, spousal violence, the institution of the family, and many other issues. She began her career collaborating with Peter Blau and Otis Dudley Duncan on the pathbreaking American Occupational Structure (1968). Tyree has taught at the University of Hawaii, UCLA, the University of Southern California, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, and Tel Aviv University. With Wendy Katkin and Ned Landsman, she has published Beyond Pluralism: The Conception of Groups and Group Identities in America (2003) and her many articles have appeared in such journals as the American Sociological Review, Social Forces, Social Science Quarterly, and the Journal of Marriage and Family.
