Two Programs, Multiple Opportunities
Educational Leadership (EDL)
This combined school district and school building leader post-master's certificate program prepares New York State certified K-12 educators for two certifications that are necessary to pursue advancement into leadership positions such as:
- Superintendent of Schools
- District Superintendent
- Assistant Superintendent
- Principal
- Assistant Principal
- Department Chairperson
- Athletic Director
School District Business Leader
This post-master's certificate program provides the necessary preparation to assume a position in a school district central office, such as assistant superintendent.
There are two tracks, depending on your certification status:
- Business Track. Business professionals from the private or public sector who are not licensed educators will need 36-credits to qualify for the certification exam.
- School Leader Accelerated Track. Currently licensed (SBL or SDL) New York State school leaders may be eligible to pursue a 15-credit course of study.

Strengthening Diversity in School Leadership
Faculty from the Educational Leadership program have received a NYSED grant to support a multipronged initiative designed to:
- Create a pipeline for emerging school leaders via our Ed Leadership program
- Foster new leadership skills for APs and teacher-leaders
- Conduct and disseminate research on the effective strategies being used in the field
