TimelyCare is a new telehealth platform that provides 24/7 virtual access to medical
and mental health services, right from your mobile device or computer. Best of all,
this service is for all Stony Brook undergraduate or graduate students, taking online
or in-person classes, and is included as part of the Health and Counseling broad based fee.
Whether you're under the weather, anxious or overwhelmed, or just need to talk to
someone about how to be healthier, you will be able to talk to a licensed provider,
either by a voice or video call.
Introducing Zoom Pods:
If you are in need of a private place to utilize the telehealth services of TimelyCare,
we are pleased to offer Zoom Pods. These pods will provide you privacy on demand. They are located in the basement
of the Student Union and on the third floor of the Health Science Center (HSC).
You can go totimelycare.com/stonybrook or download the TimelyCare app (iOS or Android) to register with your name and Stony Brook email address. You can
then have visits from any web-enabled device – smartphone, laptop, or desktop.

ensures you have access to essential medical and counseling services, on-demand and
when you need it. Your well-being is our top priority, and we are here to support
you every step of the way. TimelyCare is available from anywhere in the United States.

Yes. TimelyCare providers can prescribe medications that they feel are clinically
necessary and safe. Our SBU Campus Pharmacy, located at Student Health Serivces, can be utilized for your medication needs. Not
all medical conditions can be treated virtually and often you may be referred back
to Stony Brook’s Student Health Services for an in-person visit and diagnostic testing.
In addition, if you’re concerned about your mental health or are experiencing an urgent mental health need after hours, you can call the CAPS Crisis Line at 631-632-6720. If you are in immediate danger, contact University Police at (631)
632-3333.
As a TimelyCare patient, your visit records will be saved as part of your medical
records, and will be shared with licensed medical providers and counselors in CAPS and Student Health Services at Stony Brook. If you want to share your records with a physician outside of TimelyCare, you can
print or email your records, or call 833-4-TIMELY to have a copy of your records sent
to your provider.
TimelyCare can provide care to minors (under 18 years old), but your parent/guardian
would need to contact the Customer Support team at 833-4-TIMELY. Timely will set
you up with an account that you student can use until you turn 18, at which point,
you can create your own account. The parent/guardian can give you the account credentials.
You don't need to be in the same place as you in order to use this account. Given
you are a minor, your parent/guardian would have access to your visit records if they
wanted to view them in your account.
3-7 minutes on average.
We recommend that you not use both the TimelyCare counseling and CAPS counseling simultaneously.
It's best to work with one counselor. If you are finding that a particular service
isn't meeting your needs, it's fine to change to TimelyCare and/or CAPS for support.
TimelyCare will not have access to the medical history that you provided to Stony
Brook University, either as part of your Health Form or any information from visits
to Student Health Services. If you receive medical services from TimelyCare, you should
disclose any relevant medical information as you would for a visit to any new medical
provider.
Call theCAPS Crisis Line at 631-632-6720 if you're concerned about your friend's mental health or they are experiencing an urgent mental health need after hours. If your friend is in immediate danger, contact University Police at (631) 632-3333
or 333 from a campus phone.
If you do not have a private space for your telecounseling session or to speak with
a counselor, there are Zoom Pods on campus at the Student Union Basement and in the
Health Science Center building. Learn more here.
There is support for reproductive health with counseling and prescribing (when indicated)
for birth control, emergency contraception, and sexually related infections. Timely
providers can offer counseling about pregnancy options, including termination options.
TalkNow is a service available in most countries outside of the United States. Students
can connect with either a US-based phone number or VPN while abroad. If they have
any issues connecting, they can call the support line at 833-4-TIMELY, and they could
have a TalkNow provider call them directly.
Timely does not provide ESA letters. However, students can use their visit records
as supporting documentation for accommodations.
