Jacob Lamm
Jacob Lamm is a 25-year industry veteran whose career is marked by a
history of nurturing innovative ideas and turning them into technologies and
applications that help organizations around the world succeed.
Jacob is Executive Vice President of Strategy and Corporate Development at
CA Technologies. In this role, he is responsible for coordinating the
company’s overall business strategy, as well as developing the strategy for the
selection, prioritization, and execution of acquisitions. He is
responsible for business development initiatives, including building
market-changing alliances. Jacob is a member of the company's Executive
Leadership Team, which defines and executes business and technical strategies.
Jacob leads CA Technologies Business Incubation business units and is
charged with exploring opportunities to build businesses in new markets.
Under his watch, the CA ecoSoftware product line was established to help
organizations address energy, carbon and sustainability management. CA
Technologies own use of this technology contributed to its being ranked by
Newsweek in 2010 as among the top 50 greenest companies in the
Jacob has held various management positions since joining CA Technologies
in 1998. In 2008, prior to assuming his current role, he served as Executive
Vice President of the company's Governance Group, a collection of business units
focused on delivering solutions that help organizations effectively govern all
areas of operations including IT Governance, Project and Portfolio
Management, Records Management, and Risk and Compliance Management. In
this role, he championed the then novel notion of pursuing a unified approach to
business governance.
From 2005 to 2008, he was Executive Vice President and general manager of
the Business Service Optimization business unit at CA Technologies, bringing
together the synergies of Service Management, Asset Management and Desktop
Management and championing the now well-accepted concept of viewing Information
Technology as a service to the business. In 2007, under his leadership, CA
Technologies opened the India Technology Center Hyderabad campus, which has
helped to expand CA Technologies international presence.
Jacob joined CA Technologies with its acquisition of Professional Help
Desk (PHD), a company he co-founded. There he served as Executive Vice
President and Chief Technology Officer. Under his leadership, PHD gained
industry recognition for having the most visionary service management solution
on the market.
Prior to founding PHD, Jacob served as a senior manager at Con Edison in
New York, where he was responsible for integrating new technologies into the
company’s business systems, including wireless communications, data warehousing,
imaging, and Internet solutions.
Jacob co-authored Under Control:
Unifying and Simplifying Governance Across the Enterprise, which laid out a
new model for enterprise-wide corporate governance. The book continues to
help organizations set and meet internal organizational requirements and
external compliance regulations, evaluate risk management strategies, and manage
the cost of compliance and other governance issues.
Jacob serves on the Board of Directors of the New York State Smart Grid
