- About Us
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Ying Liu to our Laboratory Safety group as our newest Laboratory Safety Specialist! Ying recently worked at the Advanced Energy Research and Technology Center providing safety guidance and oversight as an Industrial Project Scientist. She has been a Visiting Assistant Professor here at Stony Brook University, conducting research on the characterization and analysis of the distribution of the protein adsorption on SI oil coated glass surfaces.
Ying attained her Master of Science (MS), and then her Ph.D., in Materials Science and Engineering from Stony Brook University, having already earned her Bachelor's degree in Physics at Hunan University in China. While at Stony Brook she was also awarded the President's Award to Distinguished Doctoral Students in 2011.
As part of our Laboratory Safety team, Ying brings a great perspective of safety from the researcher’s point-of-view and will help us to better translate and communicate safety as well as supporting academic research by:
· Providing support and guidance for mechanical and physical safety throughout campus, including the Arts.
· Further development and implementation of a Minors in Research Safety Program
· Providing support for monitoring the laboratory safety equipment inspections for chemical fume hoods, safety showers, and emergency eyewashes.
With her strong background in Engineering and her history of working and developing a safety-culture here already, Ying will be a wonderful new addition to our team!
Welcome aboard Ying!
