April is Distracted Driving

   Awareness Month

April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month and new NSC estimates show that our roads are the most dangerous they’ve been in years; on a typical day, eight people are killed and hundreds more are injured in distraction-affected crashes. Your workers face distracted driving risks on every trip, from the driveway to the parking lot and back home again.

Take The Distracted Driving Pledge

What can you do to prevent distracted driving?

    • Commit to driving distraction-free by taking the Stony Brook 'Just Drive' Pledge and help us make the roads safer for everyone.
    • Put the cell phone away. Don't try to multitask.
    • Set vehicle controls before you start driving.
    • Avoid reliance on vehicle technology while driving (e.g. cruise control, blind spot warning, automatic braking, rear-view camera, etc.).
    • View and share the following infographics and the 5 Minute Safety Talk with others.
