The group had our 6th Annual BBQ at the Chen-Wiegart house. Congratulations to Xiaoyang Liu for completing her Ph.D.! Karen kept the group tradition of sharing some meaningful books as gifts for Xiaoyang as we wish her the best for her postdoc and future endeavors!!
April 07, 2023 – Group Dinner!
Our group gathered for a wonderful dinner at Outback Steakhouse! It was a great opportunity to relax, bond, and celebrate our hard work.
December 2022 – Xiaoyang’s farewell party!
Congratulations to Xiaoyang for completing her Ph.D. studies! The group celebrated her achievements with dinner. Karen shared some meaningful books as gifts, which has become a group tradition. Additionally, group member Cheng-Chu surprised Xiaoyang with a heartfelt speech, expressing appreciation for Xiaoyang!
Aug 20, 2022 - Annual BBQ and Nicole and Charles’ farewell party!
The group had our 5th Annual BBQ at the Chen-Wiegart house and say good-bye to Charles Clark and Nicole Zmich as they continue their journeys after Stony Brook! Karen kept the group tradition to share some meaningful books as gifts for the graduates as we wish them the best!!
August 20, 2021 – Chen-Hung, Chonghang and Lin-Chieh’s farewell party!
Congratulations to Cheng-Hung and Chonghang for completing their Ph.D. studies! You both are the first of the group! Congratulations also to Lin-Chieh, the first student from the Department of Chemistry in our group, for completing his M.S. degree. The group celebrated their achievements with our 4th Annual BBQ at the Chen-Wiegart house. Karen shared some meaningful books as gifts for the graduates as we wish them the best for continuing their journey as young scientists!!
January 10, 2020 – Lijie and Qingkun’s farewell party
Congratulations to Lijie Zou and Qingkun Meng for completing their research as visiting scholars in the group. Lijie Zou will continue her Ph.D. study at Wuhan University of Technology and Prof. Qingkun Meng will return to China University of Mining and Technology. The group celebrated the achievements with a dumpling party at Karen’s home.

3rd Annual BBQ at the Chen-Wiegart house. Here we said farewell to Bryan Conry as he graduates and starts his graduate career as a Ph.D. student in Materials Science and Engineering at University of Florida!
