Tanya completed her bachelors at the University of Connecticut, followed by a masters and doctorate in the Massachusetts Cooperative Fish & Wildlife Research Unit at UMass Amherst. Her research in conservation and evolutionary genomics requires close collaboration with State and Federal agency partners and aims to bridge the gap between science, practice, and policy. Tanya’s dissertation research employed genomics to inform management and continued recovery of Canada lynx (Lynx canadensis) populations in the Northeastern US. She is currently mentored by Dr. Liliana Davalos in the department of ecology and evolutionary biology. Her postdoctoral research fellowship, funded by the National Science Foundation, explores the genomic mechanisms underlying unexpected longevity among species of bats. Tanya’s professional goal is to join the professoriate and mentor the next generation of STEM scholars.
