Jaclyn N. Mauro began her academic journey at the University of Scranton, where she earned a B.S. in Biochemistry. There, she conducted research on the synthesis of nitrile-labeled tryptophan, sparking her interest in synthetic chemistry. In 2024, Jaclyn completed her PhD in Chemistry at Stony Brook University under the mentorship of Professors Ming-Yu Ngai and Jeffrey Lipshultz. Her doctoral research centered on developing novel methods for radical functional group migration on biomolecules, enabling site-selective functionalization of carbohydrates and synthesis of unnatural amino acids.
Why I chose to join Stony Brook IRACDA: I joined the Stony Brook IRACDA program to enhance my skills in both teaching and research. The program offers the perfect balance of pedagogy training and hands-on teaching experience while allowing me to continue advancing my research. It provides the support I need to grow as an educator, scientific communicator, and independent scientist.
