Derek O'Connor

Derek O'Connor leads workforce readiness and K-12 engagement programming in the areas of renewable energy, infrastructure, and advanced technology. An alumnus of Stony Brook University and CUNY Brooklyn, Derek utilizes industry and governmental partnerships to create experiential learning opportunities for undergraduates and internships for graduate students. Within the Advanced Energy Center and CEWIT, Derek has piloted K-12 programming such as the High School Hackathon and Summer Youth Employment Program, now in their second year.

In his 10+ years at Stony Brook, Derek has also worked in the School of Professional Development, piloting the Fundamentals of Offshore Wind.
