Visa Delays
Stony Brook University’s Office of Federal Relations recognizes that any delay in the processing of your visa is extremely frustrating. Unfortunately, recent federal immigration policy changes have resulted in many Stony Brook international students, faculty, and visiting scholars waiting much longer than in the past to receive visas. SBU’s Office of Federal Relations continues to voice concerns to Congress regarding unacceptable processing delays and is working closely with the New York congressional delegation to pass critical immigration reform.
Please understand that Stony Brook University is unable to expedite the visa process.
Additionally, it remains extremely difficult for our federal elected officials to expedite visas. However, the caseworkers of US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer will do their best to look into your case and provide assistance if you fill out the following online form and submit the form to Senator Schumer’s office. US Senator Kirsten Gillibrand also provides this visa casework assistance.
