Application Fee Assistance for students from Latin America
The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Stony Brook University would like to encourage applications to its PhD program (https://www.stonybrook.edu/commcms/grad-physics-astronomy/) from outstanding students in Latin America (including Mexico, Central America, South America and the Caribbean Region).
To do so the Department will cover the application fee for applicants from these countries, subject to a pre-application process. Further assistance may also be offered to the admitted students under this program.
Students interested in applying for this assistance should send a pre-application by email to the Graduate Program Director, Matthew Dawber (matthew.dawber@stonybrook.edu) before December 1 and be ready to submit a full application to our program by our December 15 deadline. The pre-application should contain an up to date copy of your academic transcript, a CV and a brief description of your particular scientific interests (including who you may wish to work with if you join our program).
To be considered you should have, or will have by the end of Spring 2024, the equivalent of a 4 year undergraduate degree and/or a Masters degree in Physics, Astronomy or closely related subjects. You should have the equivalent of a US GPA of at least 3.5. In addition to performance on courses we will also consider the research interests of the student and how well they match our program. Note that being successful in the pre-application is in no way a guarantee of admission.
