Frequently Asked Questions

What is InnovateIT?

InnovateIT is a 24 hour make-a-thon that aims to inspire students from across the nation to breathe life into an idea that will leave a lasting impact for the global good. Whether you’ve been developing an idea for months or just sparked one today, InnovateIT is offering a platform upon which you can collaborate to springboard your ideas into a reality. Deviating from the traditional mold of make-a-thons, InnovateIT encourages students from all backgrounds to participate in the creation process from start to finish using a medium of their choice, and show off their skills to others that think outside the box. InnovateIT promises to be a creative sprint of team formation, idea generation and building - fueled by coffee, snacks and games.

 What's the judging rubric?

InnovateIT will be divided into five categories this year. Four of these categories will be announced at the start of the event; however, the last category will be announced as a surprise just before judging. Each of these categories will be judged on the following criteria:

Impact:

  • Did the participant thoughtfully address a specific health and wellness issue?
  • How will this project improve communities?
  • What are the quantifiable measures you can track to measure the impact of your project?

Originality/Creativity:

  • Is the project novel?
  • What makes the project unique?
  • If projects are an expansion of an existing concept, then how does this addition make it different from what already exists?

Feasibility:

  • How will the project be implemented?
  • How much would the project cost to be implemented?
  • Can the project be adopted easily in today’s society?
