Her research focuses on the development of electrochemical processes using stimulus-responsive materials to facilitate carbon capture and to convert captured carbon to value-added products. We develop carbon capture processes using renewable energy sources that are robust, reliable, and scalable. Our particular interest is in direct air capture, which is essentially a net-negative emission method that effectively removes CO2 from the air. In addition, we develop electrochemical carbon conversion processes. Our particular interest is in the development of integrated capture and conversion processes of CO2 into value-added compounds such as fuels and nutrients.
