Crime Stoppers

Crime StoppersCrime Stoppers of Suffolk County Inc., is a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit corporation established in 1994, and a member of Crime Stoppers International.

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers is comprised of a volunteer Board of Directors who raise funds that are used as cash rewards and for educating the public. Cash rewards up to $1,000 are given to citizens who provide information to the Suffolk County Police Department that results in the arrest of criminals. Suffolk County citizens can call 1-800-220-TIPS to speak to a Police Officer without fear of being identified. From the University at Stony Brook, students, faculty and staff can call 632-TIPS. The Crime Stoppers program is designed to keep the informant's identity anonymous.

Everyone can help make Crime Stoppers successful and their community safe by supporting Crime Stoppers through cash or non-cash donations, or by donating their time. For more information, call 1-800-220-TIPS. Crime Stoppers works!

Help Stop Crime!

  • Call the Crime Stoppers Hot Line (631) 632-TIPS if you have any information you think may help solve a crime. You will not be asked your name, address, or phone number.
  • Tell Crime Stoppers you have information about a crime, and you will be given a code number for identification.
  • Tell Crime Stoppers what you know.
  • Call Crime Stoppers later, using your code number, to see whether your information led to an arrest and indictment. Arrangements will then be made to have your cash reward, up to $1000, dropped off at a place known only to you and Crime Stoppers.
