Susan Foley
Interim Vice President for Marketing and Communications
Susan Foley serves as Interim Vice President of Marketing and Communications with
responsibility for directing the university's internal and external communications
strategy including brand and reputation marketing, issues and crisis management, external
communications, executive communications and digital and social media strategy.
Foley joined Stony Brook in March of 2023, bringing more than 25 years of experience in strategic communications with a track record for advancing business and organizational growth through alignment of message, culture, and communications. Prior experience includes serving as corporate communications director for a Fortune 500 company and working alongside the CEOs of four leading global communications consulting firms. In each role, growth and/or change management goals required her consistent and quick assessment of marketing and communications needs and the ability to make immediate impact while building and protecting reputation. She brings a unique mix of both expert strategic counsel and creativity to every situation
An active member of her community, Foley has held numerous board and volunteer leadership roles on behalf of local schools and regional non-profit organizations where she lends her marketing and communications expertise to advance each organization's mission and goals. She holds a bachelor's degree from Boston University's College of Communication.
