About

An initial Academic Success Team was brought together in June 2012 under the leadership of the Division of Undergraduate Education to improve the retention and graduation rates of the undergraduate population. Collaborative efforts across the University resulted in impressive improvements in the four-year and six-year graduation rates, including achieving the highest graduation rate in Stony Brook Universiy's history.

The renamed Undergraduate Student Success Team, reconvened in Fall 2023, is a partnerhip led by the Division of Undergraduate Education and the Division of Student Affairs. The team extends the work of the original group and includes representatives from several areas of the University engaged in student success work. Areas of focus include the successful onboarding and transition of new undergraduate students, identifying and addressing barriers to success, increasing the retention and graduation rates of all students, and continuing to improve student outcomes. The team aims to be a national leader in developing and implementing best practices, programs, interventions, and strategies that help each student succeed, achieve their goals, and earn their bachelor's degree.
