Human Rights
Every day events happen locally and abroad that are horrific human rights violations. The Department of Psychology condemns all forms of human rights violations, including, but not limited to, racism, sexism/genderism, heterosexism, transphobia, ableism, ageism, classism, antisemitism and all religious prejudice, xenophobia, colorism, looksism/sizeism. We support all department members and all people who are the direct or indirect targets of such violations, and we actively encourage everyone - and hold ourselves accountable - to take whatever actions we each can to oppose the atrocities that are happening and to support actions that promote social justice.
The Psychology Department recognizes that we (faculty, staff, and students) are engaging in our necessary daily work and learning activities while trying to function in the context of an often frightening and oppressive world. The Psychology Department is aware, and has compassion for the fact, that at any moment someone may be feeling the impact of a human rights violation or trauma based on personal, local, and/or world events. The Psychology Department will always condemn all forms of human rights violations and stand in solidarity with those who experience them.
