For teacher and school leader candidates
Stony Brook University is an "approved recommending institution" that uses NYSED's TEACH Online Services to report whether students have fulfilled specific requirements for certification. If you are in a registered and approved teacher or leader certification program (e.g., MATs, bachelor's programs with teacher certification, or Educational Leadership), you must give SBU/School of Professional Development written authorization to share your information with NYSED. Otherwise, the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) will preclude SBU from providing NYSED with the information it needs to certify you.
To waive your FERPA rights and grant the University permission to share your information with NYSED via TEACH, complete the SPD FERPA Form linked below and pay the $90 administrative fee.
