Since the HEA program’s inception in 2011, Stony Brook University has graduated more than 900 proud HEA alumni. Our alumni are leaders in the field and work in a variety of higher education capacities across the United States.

Alumni are invited to engage with the HEA program through several opportunities:
Alumni programs and events: The HEA program invites alumni to participate in networking and other celebratory events throughout the year. We host an alumni and friends reception each summer near the Stony Brook campus as part of our summer institute. We also partner with the Division of Student Affairs and invite all HEA alumni to attend the “Friends of Stony Brook” reception at the annual ACPA and NASPA conferences. Details on upcoming programs and events are posted on the HEA homepage and in the HEA alumni e-newsletter.
Career Services: The SBU Career Center provides full support for all alumni of Stony Brook University, whether you are a recent graduate in need of job search support, a mid-career changer, or an experienced professional considering different options for work and service. Career coaching appointments are offered in person and virtually. The Career Center also invites alumni to give back through involvement in student mentoring. Practicum supervisor: HEA alumni are encouraged to offer a 150-hour, semester long practicum/unpaid internship opportunity to current higher education students. Practicum supervisors provide oversight of projects, learning experiences, and ongoing feedback, helping HEA students build their experience and strengthen the theory-to-practice connection. Alumni interested in offering a practicum opportunity should e-mail hea@stonybrook.edu, and include your name, office, title, institution, and any other relevant details.
Graduate student employment: HEA alumni are encouraged to offer paid graduate employment opportunities to current HEA students, providing opportunities for students to strengthen their higher education experience.
