Stony Brook is currently operating under Research Phase 5. Research personnel are required to follow the campus-wide guidance for use of masks,
as well as COVID-19 vaccine and testing mandates. Current requirements are available on the Stronger Together webpage, and updates will be provided by the Human Resource Services Office.
Participation by undergraduate students in research will be at the discretion of the
Principal Investigator (PI). Students are required to follow the current campus-wide guidance for use of masks, as well as COVID-19 vaccine and testing mandates. PIs must ensure
that students receive all applicable training and supervision when working in their
labs or field projects.
It is strongly encouraged that any participation by high school students in research
be limited to remote means. In exceptional instances, in-person participation may
be allowed at the discretion of the Principal Investigator (PI). Students participating
in person are required to follow the current campus-wide guidance regarding the use of masks, as well as COVID-19 vaccine and testing mandates. PIs
are required to provide appropriate training and supervision of students working in
their labs or in field projects. PIs are reminded that a minor must have written
permission from a parent or guardian to participate in research, and must ensure compliance
with Policy P616: Minors Working with Hazardous Materials in Research Laboratories.
Guidance pertaining to research studies that involve in-person participation by human
subjects is provided here.
