HIV Risk Reduction
PrEP (PRE-exposure prophylaxis)
Student Health Services healthcare providers prescribe Truvada or Descovy to reduce the risk of HIV infection for those at increased risk of contracting HIV. PrEP should be used every day (one pill) on an ongoing basis and in conjunction with other prevention options such as condoms (U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention).
You can schedule an appointment to discuss your risk factors with a Student Health Services healthcare provider to help determine whether PrEP is right for you. Schedule by calling 631 632-6740. Provide the reason for your visit to get the correct appointment type with a provider who prescribes PrEP.
PrEP appointments last approximately one hour.
