Laboratory Services

The Student Health Services lab is registered with CLIA, and participates in the "College of American Pathologists" proficiency testing program. The Laboratory is staffed by experienced, licensed medical laboratory technologists.We are happy to offer on-site laboratory services to students if requested/required after being seen by a medical provider.

Monday - Friday, 8:15 am to 5 pm or until 4:30 pm for blood drawing.

The lab oversees all Point of Care testing in the clinics including urinalysis, pregnancy, Rapid Covid-19 Antigen, Rapid Flu and Finger Stick Glucose tests. In addition, the lab performs venipunctures, complete blood counts (CBC), monospots, rapid strep, throat & urine cultures, examine vaginal wet mount specimens and KOH skin scrapings.

All of these services are free of charge.  If additional testing is required by the practitioner, the lab will collect samples and forward them to an external  laboratory.  The insurance will be billed for tests performed by outside labs; however, any additional fees not covered by insurance will be billed to the patient. The lab has negotiated discount prices with the outside labs for tests that may not be covered by certain insurances. (For example, STI Screening, tests required for admission to educational institutions such as MMR titers, urine drug screens and TB QuantiFERON tests). The tests performed by these outside laboratories will have associated fees and they will be billed to the student by their insurance company. It is the student's responsibility to contact their insurance provider to find out what will and will not covered.
