SBU SELECTED AS ANCHOR INSTITUTION FOR NEW YORK CLIMATE EXCHANGE

Stony Brook University will serve as the anchor institution for the development of a world-leading climate solutions center on Governors Island in the city’s harbor. “The New York Climate Exchange” (“The Exchange”) will be a first-of-its kind international center for developing and deploying dynamic solutions to our global climate crisis, while also acting as a hub for New Yorkers to benefit from the rapidly evolving green economy.

TREE CAMPUS HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTION FOR ELEVEN YEARS

Stony Brook University has been named a “Tree Campus Higher Education Institution” for the eleventh consecutive year, recognizing the university’s efforts conducted during the 2023 calendar year.

LIGHTING UPGRAE PROJECT COMPLETED AT MELVILLE LIBRARY

Energy Management team members replaced existing, energy-intensive fluorescent light fixtures with new LED fixtures. The new lighting will increase Melville Library’s energy efficiency and provide students, faculty and staff with improved lighting.

OUTSTANDING COMMITMENT TO ENERGY EFFICIENCY AWARD

Stony Brook University will receive the Outstanding Commitment to Energy Efficiency award from the New York Power Authority (NYPA) at NYPA’s Customer Clean Energy Exchange event. 

STONY BROOK REACHES EO 88 GOAL

Stony Brook University  has achieved its goal of a 20 percent reduction in energy use intensity (EUI) by reaching its mark on April 1, 2019, a year in advance of the program's April 1, 2020 target date.
