Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)

Formerly known as food stamps, SNAP is a program that helps low-income working people, senior citizens, and others put healthy, nutritious food on the table and feed their families. SNAP monthly benefits can be used to purchase food at authorized retail food stores. Eligibility and benefit levels are based on household size, income and other factors. Additional requirements may be in place for certain groups of people, such as college students.

The Stony Brook University Food Pantry has partnered with Island Harvest to assist community members to help determine their eligibility for SNAP and other support services and programs.

Interested in learning more about SNAP? To determine your eligibility for the program and other services, please complete our SNAP Referral Form.

If you have any questions about SNAP, please email SBUFoodPantry@stonybrook.edu.
