Forging Future Partnerships: IBM and SBU

Dr. Agerwala is Vice President of Data Centric Systems at IBM’s TJ Watson Research Center. He is responsible for developing the next-generation technologies for IBM’s systems, from microprocessor architecture and design to commercial systems and supercomputers, as well as novel supercomputing algorithms, systems software and applications. He joined IBM in 1979 and has held executive positions in research, advanced development, marketing and business development. His research interests are in the area of high performance computer architectures and systems. Dr. Agerwala is a founding member of the IBM Academy of Technology and a Fellow of the IEEE. He received his B. Tech. in electrical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology and his PhD in EE from Johns Hopkins University. He has given over 100 invited technical presentations and keynote talks at conferences, universities and national laboratories worldwide.

Dr. Sexton is Program Director for the Computational Science Center at IBM’s TJ Watson Research Center where he works on IBM’s Deep Computing Team. He received his PhD in theoretical physics from Columbia University. He has held research positions at Fermilab, Princeton’s Institute for Advanced Study, and Hitachi’s Central Research Laboratory in Tokyo. Prior to joining IBM in 2005, Dr. Sexton was a professor in the School of Mathematics in Trinity College Dublin and Director of the Trinity College Center for High Performance Computing. Dr. Sexton’s interests are in theoretical computational physics and applications and systems for high performance computing for research, industrial and commercial use.
