STRIDE Brown Bag Lunch: Should Science be Politicized?

Some would say that science has been political since Galileo Galilei confronted the Holy Office of Pope Urban VIII regarding the revolution of the earth around the sun. Yet, we may raise legitimate concerns that political objectives can tarnish behavior and reputation in the scientific community. We'll talk about steps and mis-steps taken by scientists where politics and science intersect, and take a frank look at our ideals and concerns.
 
 

Bio

Elaine DiMasi received her PhD in Physics from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in 1996 and has worked for 21 years at Brookhaven National Laboratory. Elaine is currently on full time leave to explore a transition to a political career.
