Master Teacher workshop

Master Teachers will attend two Saturday sessions for 6 hours each, September 10th and 17th. Lunch between the 3-hour morning and afternoon sessions will be provided. Teachers will learn the basic concepts of programming through hands-on exercises. Teaching assistants will be available throughout the duration of the workshop to provide assistance on a 4:1 ratio. Seating is limited to 20 on a first-come, first-served basis.

The workshop is designed for those with no previous programming experience and will focus on the Python programming language. At the end of the workshop, teachers will be able to:
  • Manipulate various types of data (integers, strings, etc.)
  • Create simple logical constructs and loops
  • Use Python libraries
Participants will walk away with two fully-fledged programming projects (molecular dynamics and social analysis via Twitter) that can be directly translated into lesson plans. This workshop is for master teachers only. For registration details, please contact IACS@stonybrook.edu.
