Planning Your Pathway to Success at SBU and Beyond

The Institute for Advanced Computational Science (IACS), Center for Inclusive Education (CIE), and the Office for the Integration of Research, Education and Professional Development (IREP) presented to a group of students in the Stony Brook Women in Science and Engineering Program (WISE) on Wednesday, April 5, 2017 in the CIE. Rosalia Davi, Diversity Outreach Coordinator, and Jennifer Green, External Fellowship Advisor, shared opportunities to get engaged in research abroad or through one of the many summer research programs available at Stony Brook, including the new IACS Data + Computing = Discovery program. "IACS looks like a great resource to have on campus, and I'm definitely going to check out what it has," said WISE student Lily Yuan.

The students also heard from Aditi Ghai, PhD candidate in Applied Mathematics and Statistics and IACS Junior Researcher Award Recipient, who shared her journey to graduate school and current research interests in computational science. It was a great conversation about women in STEM, fellowship opportunities to support women and underrepresented minority students pursuing graduate degrees, and how to embrace the many opportunities at Stony Brook to grow as a student and professional.
