Klaus Mueller received an MS in Biomedical Engineering and a PhD in Computer Science, both from The Ohio State University. He is currently a professor in the Computer Science Department at Stony Brook University and is also a senior adjunct scientist in the Computational Science Initiative at Brookhaven National Labs. His current research interests are visualization, visual analytics, data science, medical imaging, and high-performance computing. He won the US National Science Foundation CAREER award in 2001, the SUNY Chancellor Award for Excellence in Scholarship and Creative Activity in 2011, and the IEEE Meritorious Service Award in 2016. Mueller has authored more than 170 peer-reviewed journal and conference papers, which have been cited more than 7,500 times. He is currently an Associate Editor-in-Chief of IEEE Transactions on Visualization and Computer Graphics, and he was until recently the chair of the IEEE Technical Committee on Visualization and Computer Graphics.
