Professional Internships

grayscale image of logos from different internship sitesInternships can receive academic credit, and you’ll have a faculty mentor to help you find, apply for, and succeed along the way.

Most School of Communication and Journalism students choose to complete internships as a way of gaining real-world experience and networking with professionals.

Students get support in finding, preparing for, and succeeding in internships, both paid and for-credit, from SoCJ faculty and staff as well as the team at the Stony Brook University Career Center. Internships are available in a wide variety of fields, including traditional media organizations, public relations, book publishing, and communications and social media support at private companies.
