LEARNING OBJECTIVES

1. Upon completion of the degree, students should be able to describe fundamental characteristics of human language, structure, acquisition.

2. Upon completion of the degree, students should be able to accurately describe sounds of English & other languages, & analyze interactions of pronunciation with word & utterance structure.

3. Upon completion of the degree, students should be able to identify patterns in sound occurrence & pronunciation, & identify possible conditioning factors in linguistic structure.

4. Upon completion of the degree, students should be able to analyze the structure of sentences of a variety of types, in English & other languages.

5. Upon completion of the degree, students should be able to investigate, analyze, & describe structures of unfamiliar languages.

6. Upon completion of the degree, students should be able to present linguistic analyses in clear, coherent written form.
