Marylou Stewart Pride Scholarship
The Marylou Stewart Pride Scholarship was established in June 2004 by The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender Faculty and Staff Network at Stony Brook University – now known as Pride@SBU. Pride@SBU which is a group of LGBTQ and ally faculty, staff and alumni who organize a mixture of social events, resources, support, education and advocacy. The scholarship was originally called the Pride Scholarship but the name was changed in 2011 to honor the life of Marylou Stewart who was a founding member of Pride@SBU and one of the greatest advocates for the LGBTQ community at Stony Brook University. She was a driving force behind the fundraising efforts that led to the endowment of this scholarship.
