Festival of Lights

The Festival of Lights is a Stony Brook tradition that celebrates the rich traditions of people of different cultural backgrounds, faiths, and religious beliefs during the holiday season. This intercultural program reflects our diverse campus community and highlights the most widely observed holidays through performances in song, dance, music and video presentations; displays; holiday crafts-making; and traditional holiday foods. The program highlights various faiths and celebrations, including Christmas/Advent/Three Kings Day (Christian), Hanukkah (Jewish), Ramadan/ Eid-ul Fitr/ Eid-Adha (Muslim), Diwali (Hindu), and Kwanzaa (African American). Past Festival events were coordinated by the Diversity, Intercultural and Community Engagement, Interfaith Center, and a host of student organizations.  The 2023 Festival of Lights will be held on
