Wolf Ride Bike Share FAQs
SBU Wolf Ride Bike Share is free for current SBU students up to 60 minutes per trip and is covered by the transportation fee. Current SBU students who use a bike for more than 60 minutes per trip will be responsible for "Additional Charges," which will be billed to their student account.
Faculty, staff and visitors may utilize SBU Wolf Ride Bike Share by purchasing a subscription, which are offered in annual, monthly, weekly and daily terms. Subscriptions may be purchased using a credit card at a bike share station, and subscribers may use an existing subscription by swiping the credit card which the existing subscription was purchased with. Faculty, staff and visitors who use a bike for more than 60 minutes per trip will be responsible for "Additional Charges," which will be billed to their credit card.

No. SBU Wolf Ride Bike Share is a "per ride" bike share system that provides users with a sustainable method to travel between two different on campus locations at Stony Brook University. The system is design for a bike to be used from one station and returned to another within 60 minutes, so that another user can then use the same bike minutes later.
Yes, all SBU Wolf Ride Bike Share users must wear a helmet. Stony Brook University does not provide users with helmets. It is the responsibility of each user to know and follow the New York State Vehicle and Traffic (V&T) Law and Stony Brook University's Parking Rules and Regulations whenever operating a bicycle.
First, a user should stop riding the bike.
Second, the user should do their best to return the bike to an SBU Wolf Ride Bike Share station. Once the bike is returned to a station, the user should select the red "REPAIR / WRENCH" symbol on the bike dock, which will serve to notify the University of the inoperable bike and will prevent other users from using this inoperable bike until it is repaired. If a user cannot return a bike due to damage, please call us at (631) 632-6400. Users are responsible for returning the bike to an SBU Wolf Ride Bike Share station in an operating condition. Should a flat tire occur during use, a user would not be responsible for such damages.
