Black History Month Events Begin with Unity Celebration

Stony Brook University kicks off Black History Month on Thursday, February 1, with the “Student Union Takeover: A Celebration of Culture and Unity,” presented by the Office of Diversity, Intercultural and Community Engagement (DICE), and the Black Student Union.

The Spring 2024 season at the Charles B. Wang Center offers a diverse lineup of programs that honor the rich tapestry of Asian art and culture.

Mural Highlights Culture of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

The mural, titled “Spread Your Wings,” adorns the front wall of the West Side Dining Hall building, which also houses the university’s LGTBQ Services office. It was created by artist, alumna and current graduate student Katie X (Xiaohui Wang), who worked on the piece throughout the spring and summer.

The Diversity Professional Leadership Network (DPLN)

The Career Center developed the Diversity Professional Leadership Network (DPLN) to help underrepresented students increase their knowledge of careers and enhance their career skills.
