IACS Bootcamp: R Programming for Beginners

This bootcamp is designed for an absolute beginner to the R programming language. We will start by learning basic data types and operations, which will be followed by a fast introduction into loops and conditional statements. More advanced topics will include getting acquainted with base functions in R, as well as writing your own functions, and an introduction to creating simple plots. This bootcamp will provide you with the first necessary tools on the long road to becoming a more proficient programmer in the R language. Bio

Bilgecan Sen is a Ph.D candidate in the Department of Ecology and Evolution at Stony Brook University. He is a quantitative ecologist and his dissertation research focuses on predicting species distributions under climate change. His interests have led him to utilize large ecological datasets, sophisticated statistical methods and the R programming language.
