Leadership and Employment Opportunities


Student Life offers a variety of ways for you to get involved, moving from awareness to engagement to leadership.  The following activities not only enhance your college experience but also help you build your network and develop skills valued by future employers. 


Student Life Opportunities:

  • Clubs & Organizations: Join any of the 400+ clubs and organizations available on campus. This is a great way to meet people with similar interests and get involved in campus life.
  • Starting a New Club/Organization: If you have a new idea for a club or organization, you can propose and start your own, adding to the diversity of campus life.
  • Fraternity & Sorority Life: For those interested in Greek life, there are options to join fraternities and sororities, which can provide a sense of community and opportunities for leadership and service.
  • Peer Assistant Leaders (PALs): PALs serve as key mentors to support and encourage new students.
  • Orientation Leader (OL): Students can become orientation leaders to assist new students during their transition to university life.
  • International Student Ambassador (ISA):  Work to support and encourage new international students.
  • Commuter Assistant (CA): Help fellow commuters get involved and make connections on campus.
  • Volunteer opportunities:  While many clubs and F&SL have philanthropic connections and volunteer opportunities others are also available like volunteering to help the on-campus food pantry.
  • Internship opportunities: Interning with Student Life can be a great opportunity to gain work experience and even course credit.
  • Campus Connect Listserv & Instagram: Follow us to stay informed about events and ways to get involved.

 

Paid Opportunities within Student Life:

Student Life employs over 300 students to work in the 40+ various positions across all areas of Student Life.  Some of these opportunities are mentioned above. Some others include: 

  • Office Assistant (OA): May help manage a front desk, and support Student Life operations in various ways.
  • Graduate Assistantships:  These opportunities vary by functional area within Student Life but play important roles in supporting our students and operations.
  • Specialty Roles: Those that support event planning and marketing, building setup, and space management including audio-visual technical support.

 


Beyond Student Life:

  • Undergraduate Student Government (USG) and Graduate Student Organization (GSO): Students can become part of the student government, representing their peers and having a say in university decisions.
  • Intramural Sports: Students can participate in intramural sports, which is a fun way to stay active and engage with other students.
  • Leadership Roles: There are leadership roles available such as Hall Council and Resident Assistant (RA) positions, which allow students to develop leadership skills and contribute to the residential community.
  • Teaching Assistant (TA), research & tutoring:  Are all great ways to further lean into your academic areas of interest.
  • Volunteer opportunities:  You can also connect with the Center for Service Learning and Community Service for other opportunities to give back.

A proactive approach ensures that you can find your wolf pack and make the most of your time on campus.
